Description
WOW 128; The Sopwith Strutter was a WW1 British deigned two seat multi role biplane utilised by the RAF, American, Belgian and French Air forces. Post war it was operated by several air forces including the Japanese in their 1918 Siberian campaign. It was significant in its development in that it was the first British two seat ‘tractor’ fighter and also the first to enter service with a front firing synchronised machine gun. It was given the name 1½ Strutter because of the long and short cabane struts that supported the top wing. The Strutter was flown by several aces including Raymond Collishaw VC and several thousand aircraft were built during its service career. The Strutter was over 25ft long with a wingspan exceeding 33ft, it normally carried a crew of 2 and had a maximum speed of 100 MPH. This version of the Strutter in French Air Service comes in a striking light blue colour with the unit emblem of an elephant on the fuselage. This hand carved Mahogany 1/30 scale version takes over 60 hours to manufacture and is limited to 10 pieces, also includes ‘The Tinker’ figure as per the photos, subject to availability.
