Description
Description
The Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 was a WW1 naval aircraft designed by Ernst Heinkel, it had a two man crew and was easily recognizable by the unusual inverted tailfin/rudder (which instead of standing up from the fuselage, hung below it) in order to give an uninterrupted field of fire for the rear gunner. A total of 181 W.12’s were built and served on the Western Front, based at the Naval air bases of Ostend and Zeebrugge. The aircraft was one of the most successful German seaplane designs and had some notable successes intercepting the giant British Felixstowe flying boats, one even shot down the British airship C 27.
The W.12 had a 36.75ft wingspan and a fuselage length of 28.5ft.
Our 1/30 scale model comes in the markings of a Zeebrugge aircraft flown by Lt Urban during 1917.
This is a limited run of 9 models
A couple of trolley’s for the front floats and a rear stand are also supplied with this model. Apologies for the last picture showing the trolley/stand but we had to take this in the office studio, which is not ideal for taking large object photos. For some unknown reason the factory did not send the stands with the pre-production samples, this would have been useful as the local photographers studio was open then. Of course we are now in second lock down, no photographers studio open, these things are sent to try us!
