Description

The De Havilland Vampire started as a design as early as 1941, it was the RAF’s second operational jet fighter after the Gloster Meteor. The RAF procured the type as an interceptor and air trials began in 1944, by 1945 the Vampire was starting to roll off the production line but missed combat service in WW2 by a matter of weeks. However it saw plenty of action later on in Suez, the Malayan emergency and the Rhodesian bush wars. An RAF Vampire did lead the RAF victory parade flight over London in June 1945.

The Royal Navy also selected the design and named it Sea Vampire, it was the Royal Navy’s first jet aircraft.

The Vampire was the first jet aircraft to cross the Atlantic narrowly beating competition from the USAAF who were at the time trialling F-80 Shooting Stars. The Vampire was exported to several countries including Canada, Australia, Indo, Rhodesia, Switzerland and India amongst others.

Our 1/32 scale model measures 29.5cm (11.8 inches) in length and 37.5 cm (15 inches) in width.  We have 2 models available. This plane comes with free RAF pilot relaxing in deck chair and fuel drums. Our model comes in the markings of a 15 Sqn aircraft operating out of RAF Odiham. There will be no further variants of this model please note.
